Week #2 10/01/2003 Corwin's Avengers

Corwin's got on the board early in the game to take a 1-0 lead. R&R responded, tying the game by burying a rebounded puck. Shortly, after that, R&R took a one goal lead with a 2-1 break and a 5-hole shot. That was it for the scoring from us. The game was tied in the 2ne period by Corwin's and shortly after they took the lead on a deflected pass through the goal.  Near the end of the 3rd period, Corwin's scored an insurance goal on a "to the goal" pass. The goal happened after a flurry of activity in their end but R&R was unable to score on it (this included a 5 on 3). This game was definately winnable but the first period pace we set must be carried through to the 2nd and 3rd periods.

Week #3 10/08/2003 Ladue Lords

This game started rocky but R&R played stronger each period and pulled a victory out in fine fashion. The scoring began early in the first period on a bad change leading to a 2 on 1 from which the Lords scored. Later in the period the Lords scored again as they took a shot with Bob G. not quite back from playing the puck in the corner. The defenseman made the skate save but the Lords scored on the rebound. R&R scored a diving goal at the end of the first to narrow the gap to 1-2 at the end of the first period. In the second period, R&R scored first tying the score at 2-2. We quickly scored again to take the first lead of the game. The Lords tied the score on a breakaway but R&R got another goal with a killer slapshot from Chris R. which dinked off the crossbar into the goal. The 2nd period ended with the score tied 4-4. The third period was all R&R's with penalties on both teams interrupting the flow of the game for the Lord's. R&R scored 3 unanswered goals and dominated play bringing themselves to the 500 mark for the first time in two sessions.

Week #4 10/15/2003 Mortgage Solutions/Weber's

Coming off a victory last week, R&R was looking to upset the undefeated Weber's team and stay above .500. Things started well for R&R as they scored a goal early in the period to take a one goal lead. The first period ended 1-0 with R&R getting some good scoring chances and skating well. In the second, Weber's drew a penalty pulling down a man to avoid a breakaway. In the ensuing powerplay, R&R scored extending their lead to 2-1. R&R continued its tradition of sagging in the second period with a lot of play in their zone resulting in numerous scoring opportunities for Weber's. Bob B. was able to stop all of them until Weber's scored on a 3 on 1 making the score 2-1. R&R came right back on the same shift with a goal to make the score 3-1. In the third R&R played stronger allowing no goals and scoring two more to rap up the game 5-1. Note: This was a well played game by the entire R&R team. This the second straight game where the Chris R., Jack H. line allowed no goals.

Week #5 10/22/2003 Amtech Gunners

R&R had a good first period scoring 2 goals and not allowing any. In the second period, R&R took several penalties yes managed to score a goal on a 2 on 1 and the period ended 3-0. In the third period, R& R scored a fourth goal and got caught on a long shift during a power play giving up a goal near the end of the game. Good game for R & R Final score 4 - 1.

Week #5 Results
Lords vs Cyclones             6 - 6
Amtech vs R&R               1 - 4
Weber's vs Corwins          1 - 7

Week #6 10/29/2003 Corwin's Avengers

R&R skated into the buzzsaw that was Corwin's first line. Scoring 4 goals in each period, the Avengers showed no mercy against R&R. R&R had no answer to the Avenger's play in their zone which consisted of fast rushes, timely passes and usually a pass across the front of the goal for the rushing forward to tap in. In the second period R&R scored a goal and also scored 2 in the third period. It will be interesting to see if the Avengers can get their ringers to show up on a regular basis. If they can, all the other teams in the league are in for the beating that we took.

Missing: Pat Q., Kevin H. after the 1st period.(w.t.f. ???)
Injured Reserve: Chris T.
Goalie: Bob G.

Week #6 Results
Savvis vs Weber's               2 - 5
Corwin's vs R&R               12 - 3
Cyclones vs Gunners          1 - 3

Week #7 11/05/2003 Cyclones

With Corwin's sitting the night out, R&R needed a victory to catch up to the first place team. R&R started early in the first period taking a 1-0 lead but failed to get any more by the Cyclones goalie in the first period. In the second period, the cyclones scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead. R&R responded with a quick goal to tie the game and scored again to make the score 3-2 after two periods. That would be all for the scoring in the game with a fighting and penalty filled third period. The game ended with R&R being a man short the last 3 1/2 minutes of the game, just icing the puck when possible as the Cyclones pulled their goalie.  R&R pulled out a squeaker.

Week #7 Results

Lords vs Weber's                12 - 5

Week #8 11/12/2003 Savvis

Savvis made their record against us a perfect 3-0 with a win over R&R 5-4. As usual, R&R started strong with a scoring the first two goals in the first period. With a two goal lead after 1 period and only 2 subs on the Savvis bench, things were looking good for R&R going into the long dangerous 2nd period. Savvis scored the next goal but R&R quickly responded to make the score 3-1. Then the bottom dropped out. Savvis scored the next 3 goals. outscoring R&R 4-1 in the second period and leading 4-3 going into the third. About halfway through the 3rd period R&R tied the score but failed to keep the lead with Savvis scoring due to sloppy play in the R&R zone. Pulling the goalie made the final minutes exciting but failed to produce a goal leaving the team scratching their heads over this loss. This was a miserable effort that will drop us from 1st to 4th position in the standings.

Week #10 12/03/2003 Amtech Gunners

After several weeks off R&R needed a one-sided game to get back in the swing of things and this game was it. Wasting no time, we scored in less than a minute into the game and quickly racked up a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period. The third goal was a successfull penalty shot from Eric R (the most exiting play in professional sports) after he was tripped on a breakaway. In the second period, R&R play slipped as it usually does allowing the Gunners to get a power play goal but we quickly responded with 3 more goals in the period making the score 6-1 going into the 3rd. The third period was a chippy one (as were the other two) but the only goal was Eric R completing his hat trick add adding insult to injury getting revenge for the "broken stick" incident.

Week #10 Results
Cyclones vs Lords            ???

R&R vs  Gunners            7 - 1

Week #11 12/10/2003 Cyclones

We started this game with 10 skaters as Dave B. was late and he had Chris R.'s skates but the team was up to 12 skaters 1/2 way through the first period. R&R got off to a good start scoring the first goal minutes into the game. This goal was erased by a freak squib goal on the power play to tie the score up at 1-1. R&R scored again in the first to make the score 2-1 going into the 2nd. The second period was all R&R with 5 goals scored and one given up to make the score 7-2 going into the 3rd. The 3rd period was chippy and penalty filled with the Cyclones getting a goal on a deflected shot from the point which parked itself several inches on the good side of the goal line until a cyclone player knocked it across. That was it for the scoring with the game ending 7-3.

 Savvis    vs  Gunners       5 - 5

Week #12 12/17/2003 Ladue Lords

This game started and ended poorly for R&R. The first goal was a shot high point by the Lords deflected in front for the only goal of the period. The second period was penalty filled, with almost all the penalties going against R&R and most of the calls rediculously bad. Despite this, we scored two short-handed goals but gave one up at the end of the period taking a 2-2 tie into the 3rd period. We scored the next goal in the 3rd period but then gave up the next 4 goals, the last being an open next goal to end the game 6-3. This was a very dissappointing game as it took us from ending the season 7-3 tied for 1st place to ending 6-4 3 points out of 1st.   Still, not too bad compared to last season.
