Tsevis' 3  Pointer's/PSA Quality 5

This was a tough games for Tsevis'. With 4 no shows, the team was down to 2 lines playing an great team with 3 lines. In the first period the game play was about even but Tsevis' managed to score 3 unanswered goals. All goals came from the Charlie/Brian/Sean line. The game was very fast paced and after the first period Tsevis' team slowed down allowing Pointer's to dominate the game. Other than some odd rushes, the play was mostly in Tsevis' zone with Pointer's scoring two in the second period and two in the third. With the score 4-3. Tsevis' pulled their goalie for a last rush which resulted in an open-net goal with 10 seconds left.

Tsevis' 1  Savvis 5

Tsevis' digs a hole for itself early in the Wednesday nights standings by digging a hole for themselves in the first period of this game. With a poor defensive showing, Tsevis' allowed 3 goals in the first period without generating much offense. Late in the second period, Tsevis' got the next goal  to pull the game within two but with 10 seconds left in the period, Tsevis' allowed a backbreaker goal  which made the score 4-1 going into the 3rd.  Although there were two possible goals by Tsevis in the second period (one in and out fast and the other caught by the goalie behind the line) they were both missed by the referees. In the 3rd period, Savvis slowed down a little allowind Tsevis' more scoring opportunitiis but the Savvis goalie played well Tsevis' was unable to get anything through. With several minutes left in the game, Tsevis' allowed a breakaway rush which resulted in a goal off the crossbar.

Tsevis' 3  Gunners 5

I was trying to figure out how we were going to divide up the 11 players who I knew were coming when someone pointed out to me that it was 3 minutes before game time. This was bad because we only had 6 players. During the warmups, someone told me Eric had arrived. In league hockey there is a simple rule, you can win with 8 but not with 7. Eric made 7. The Gunners graciously offered up one of their 3 lines (they wouldn't let us choose which one) but we decided to go it alone. Early in the first period, Tsevis' got a turn over in the neutral zone and Sean made the most of it giving us a one goal lead. Late in the first period, the Gunners tied it and the period ended 1-1. In the second, the Gunners scored on a floating shot from the high right point. Shortly after that Sean scored another to tie the game and the period ended 2-2. With everybody's legs pretty much jelly in the third period, the Gunner's got the next two goals and Tsevis' was about done. Eric managed one goal on a turnover in the Gunner's zone but Tsevis' had nothing left. The Gunner's scored the insurance goal with 4 minutes left in the game and that was that. This is a game that should have been won and would have put us right in the middle of the pack in the league. Instead, we go 0 for 3 and live alone in the Wednesday night cellar. For all who didn't attend, you missed a fun and well played game which was not lost by the 7 skaters who made it.

Tsevis' 3  Avengers 4

Tsevis' dropped their 4th game in a row Wedneday night. The Avengers got on the board early in the first period on a power play goal. For the rest of the period, Tsevis controlled the play and threatened many times.  Finally, late in the second period, Tsevis got on the board with a strong individual effort by Eric R. The second period ended tied 1-1. Tsevis continued to roll in the second period, scoring the next two goals.  Things were looking like Tsevis was going to get its first victory, then things got bad. With a plethora of sloppy play in their own zone, Tsevis' allowed the next two goals. With 5 minutes left, the Avengers took a one goal lead. Tsevis' pulled the goalie to try to get the
tie but to no avail, dropping their 4th game.

Tsevis' 2  Weber's 4

New uniforms didn't change Tsevis' luck Wednesday night. The first period was back and forth with no goals scored. Midway through the second period, Tsevis' got on the board with a goal giving them a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Weber's tied the score. Tsevis's came back and took the lead again. Late in the second period Tsevis' sealed their fate allowing two goals in 30 seconds to make the score 3-2 going into the 3rd period. With not much going for them in the way of offense, Tsevis' allowed Weber's to get an insurance goal on a turnover at their own blueline that resulted in a break away.  Tsevis' look anemic in the last half of the game. Tsevis now drops to 0-5.

Tsevis' 4  Pointer's/PSA Quality 5

Tsevis' once again proves that their record is no fluke dropping its 6th game to PSA. This game was a virtual recap of the first game played against PSA at the start of the season. Tsevis took advantage of some first period turnovers to score three unanswered goals in the first period. In the second period, PSA came back with a vengence scoring 5 unanswered goals. Tsevis scored one to make the score 5-4 and then unleased a fury of effort nearly tieing the score at the very end with the goalie pulled.

Tsevis' 3  Savvis 4

This was a strange night in the sense that from the first period of play, Tsevis dominated the game. Savvis was a little short of people (4 on the bench) but is known for their strong defense. Tsevis scored the first goal in the period 1 to take a 1-0 lead. In the second period, SAVVIS scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead. In the third period, Tsevis closed the gap with a goal  but SAVVIS responded with one as well, making the score 4-2. With 5 minutes left, Tsevis scored a goal to bring the game within one but SAVVIS was able to hold off Tsevis's last minute attack and take the game 4-3.

07/30/2003 7:00 PM  Amtech Gunners
Tsevis' 4  Gunners 7

Remember my rule for league hockey, you can win with eight but not seven. I thought we had ten guys coming to the game but I was called two hours before our 7PM game and told two guys we're coming. Add a no-call no-show and guess how many we have. We gave up two goals in the first few minutes of the game to make things even harder for ourselves and go down 2-0. This is how the first period ended. In the second, we closed the gap with a goal but they responded as well to make the score 3-1. We came back again to score two goals and tie the score at 3-3 at the end of the second period. In the third, the Gunners scored a go-ahead goal to make the the score 4-3. With 3 minutes left, we tied the game at 4-4. That was where the game ended for us, the gunners scored three goals in as many minutes and ended what had been a great game for Tsevis' on a real sour note.

Tsevis' 6  Gunners 2

After 8 dissapointing games, Tsevis' finally showed what they can do dominating the Gunners in a 6-2 victory. Unfortunately for the Gunners, a scheduling mistake caused them to play Tsevis' two weeks in a row and Tsevis' came ready to avenge last week's disappointing loss. With a full roster of 13 people, Tsevis looked strong from the start scoring 2 goals in the first period and coming close to scoring many other times. In the second period, Amtech scored a goal on a shot from the defenseman cutting the lead to 2-1. A flash of DejaVu ignited the team which came back with 4 unanswered goals in the traditionally weak second period for Tsevis'. In the third period, Tsevis' went into a defensive shell playing well but not getting as many offensive chances. Tsevis' scored a goal going up 6-1 and the scoring ended with a lucky shot for the Gunners coming from just across the blue line and nailing the upper left corner of the goal making the score 6-2.  This game was a long time coming but it sure felt good after the way the season has gone. Hopefully we have gotten over the hump - good job guys.

Tsevis' 8  Weber's 7

Tsevis' came into this game wanting to end the season on a high note and generate optimism for next session by winning the last two games. It would be tough challenge playing the number two team (Weber's) which, to this point, had only three losses, two of which were to the number one team (PSA/Pointers). Weber's started the scoring early in the first period but Tsevis' quickly replied tying the score 1-1. Two more goals in the first period gave Tsevis' a 3-1 lead going into the 2nd period, traditionally a bad one for the team. Tsevis' played the second period even, giving up a goal (3-2), scoring two goals (5-2) and then allowing another goal to end the period at 5-3. This set the stage for the third period. With Tsevis' game fading, Weber's scored two goals tying the score at 5 all. Tsevis' then scored the next two goals to go up again 7-5. Weber's showed resilience scoring the next two goals, tying the score 7-7 with ~3 minutes left. The crowd was mostly Tsevis' fans and making so much noise that the referee, acting on complaints from Weber's goalie, tried to silence them. A pass down the left wing boards and the move at the blue line gave Chris L a break away with 1:30 left. Faking the backhand, Chris pulled the puck to his forehand putting past the goalie giving Tsevis' a one goal lead and sending the crowd (a good chunk of which was Chris' family) into a frenzy. For the last ninety seconds of the game, Tsevis' put the young guys out who forechecked like crazy while Weber's pulled their goalie to no avail. Tsevis' closed out the season with 2 wins to go into the next session with some momentum.
